Evolution of Roulette

The evolution of Roulette game is itself very vague and unclear. With so many versions of stories and myths that revolve round the game, it is really difficult to find the actual roots of Roulette. Considering so much uncertainty with the discovery of this game, it has been portrayed that in 17th century French philosopher and mathematician named Blaise Pascal was the one main person who created this game and made it well accepted. It is believed that Pascal had a great fascination towards perpetual motion and this interest of Pascal lead to the creation of first roulette table.

Roulette in French means “small wheel”. Considering all probabilities, it can be said that roulette was introduced in 17th century by Pascal and by early 1800’s various other versions of this game were released in England. It was only in the mid 1900’s that a connection between roulette and French was established after considering various probabilities.

The initial modern roulette was invented in 1842 by two French men by named Louis and Francois Blanc. This modern roulette table consists of single zero and is used till date. In 1842, gambling was considered as illegal in France. Since it was illegal, Blanc brothers launched the table to all gambling halls in Europe and America. This fascinating game attracted a lot of gamblers and some people also became a devoted follower. This made roulette more popular in the casinos, especially in the beginning of modern era. The game in England was played by many royal people and therefore it was named as King of all Casino Games.

As the days progressed, the world of gambling also showed a lot of improvement. With lots of enhancement in technology, the gambling world also started to implement these technologies. Roulette marched along with the new advancements.

With introduction of Internet and online gambling, roulette became even more popular among the players. Earlier roulette was taken as a game for rich only, but with online roulette, the game became accessible to all. Even though the game is well known as King of all Casino games, it is no more restricted to rich people only.

History of roulette dates back to almost 3 centuries, starting from 1700’s with the first roulette table by Pascal to modern roulette. Though, it is the most prominent casino games, but the popularity of roulette has actually started fading over days.
